"The Choice"
This image is Jerry Anderson's personal interpretation of the Gospel message of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. As recounted in the Gospel of Luke:
One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
Luke 23:39-43 NIV
The message is simple: one man believed in Jesus as the son of God, and was accepted into paradise; the other did not, and was not given the same offer. Although the verse chosen for this print is from the Old Testament, it makes the same point quite succinctly:
"Choose you this day whom ye will serve…"
Joshua 24:15 NIV
